The Mater Misericordiae Hospital is seeking to fill the above position.
Reporting to the Director of Medical Services, the successful applicants will be responsible for the following amongst others:
Provision of a consultative service for cardiac pediatric patients under the supervision of the Consultant Cardiologists
Assist and perform pediatric cardiology procedures in the Cardiac Cath-Lab under the supervision of the Consultant Cardiologist.
Provide both pre and post procedure care for pediatric cardiac patients.
Review and evaluate pediatric patients presenting cardiac or chest pain issues in the A&E and also at the Cardiac Outpatient Clinic and admit those that require admission.
Attend rounds with the Consultant Cardiologist.
Inform the Consultant Cardiologist of any issues or problems that arise concerning pediatric cardiac patients.
To review and follow pediatric cardiac patients in the Intensive Care Unit and liaise with the Consultant Cardiologist on any issues or problems.
Participate in cardiac presentations, Cath-Lab, ICU and A&E meetings
Coordinate morbidity and mortality meetings for the pediatric cardiac patients
To perform, analyze and evaluate cardiac procedures e.g. ECG, ECHO, Holter and Stress Tests when deemed appropriate by the Consultant Cardiologists.
Work closely with the cardiac program office, in maintaining quality of care
Be available to give a cardiac review to other Consultants.
Support the Mater Hospital in its cardiac program and be actively involved in the cardiac screening camps
Facilitate the timely admission and discharge of all patients in accordance with hospital policy.
Review all investigation results in a timely manner, and to ensure all cardiac paediatric prescribing is undertaken with utmost care
Regular attendance both in-hours and out-of-hours according to manning charts or rosters.
Assist management in drawing up and implementing policies and procedures for the Unit.
Ensure that patients/families are given adequate information upon which to base treatment decisions and follow-up.
Comply with hospital policies, health and safety and hospital quality improvement programs.
Undertake any other duties that may reasonably be required
Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery
MMed Paediatrics with keen interest in Pediatric cardiology
Training in Critical Care
Training in Health Management Systems.
Must be registered with KMPDB.
Minimum 1 year experience as a paediatrician with interest in Cardiology
Ability to train and develop staff.
