The Mater Hospital is seeking to fill the above position. Reporting to the Director of medical services, the successful candidate will be responsible for;

  • Attend to antenatal mothers, review reports and conduct safe deliveries.
  • Undertaking clinical procedures and examinations.
  • Carrying out ward rounds with Consultants.
  • Consulting on cases that the Senior House Officers may require guidance.
  • Oversee the running of the department.
  • Assist management in drawing up and implementation of policies and procedures for the department
  • Advising and guiding management on procurement of equipment and supplies for the department.
  • Coaching and mentoring of Senior House Officers.
  • Oversee the running of the Well Woman and Well Baby Clinics
  • Supervision of Senior House Officers and Elective Students
  • Ensure that Hospital policies and administrative regulations are well known and understood by staff
  • Liaise with HR & Talent Development to ensure proper staffing levels at all times.
  • Conduct CPDs to ensure high standards of competency and efficiency in the department at all times
  • Ensures that patients are given utmost attention and care at all times
  • Make follow up on complaints and any concerns raised by patients
  • Conduct surgeries elective or emergencies.

Minimum Requirements for the position

  • BSc. Medicine
  • MMed. Obs/Gyne.
  • Critical Care Training
  • Health Management Systems
  • Registered with KMPDB
  • Minimum 6 years as a Senior House Officer
  • Supervisory experience
3 years in a similar position
